ATLANTA – Chambers Women in Law Awards: USA 2017 has recognized Lawrence & Bundy LLC as a finalist for Law Firm of the Year in Promoting Flexible Working Environments and Innovative Programs for Mothers. This Chambers national award recognizes outstanding contributions to furthering the advancement of women in the law through gender diversity, inclusion, promotion programs and mentoring. The other firms on the short list are Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, Morrison & Foerster LLP, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, and Winston & Strawn LLP. Lawrence & Bundy is a commercial litigation firm co-founded in 2016 by former Sutherland partners Allegra Lawrence-Hardy and Thomas Bundy, III, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Washington D.C. The lawyers at Lawrence & Bundy are authentically diverse; 80% are women, and 40% are women of color.
Lawrence & Bundy recognizes that its talent is the most important asset, and it encourages creative work arrangements to help recruit and manage the best lawyers, all of whom are committed to agile client service. “We make a conscious effort to support all of our lawyers, by embracing flexibility, autonomy, and individualized approaches to talent management because each person’s career ambitions, professional goals, family needs, interests and passions are different. As a result, we recruit and retain the best talent to provide our clients exceptional service,” said Lawrence-Hardy. Part-time attorney Bonnie Burke reflects, “Experienced attorneys are often forced to off-ramp their careers to care for their young families, leaving them disenfranchised from their profession. The firm recognizes that we each have skills and talents to contribute to the needs of our clients and the overall success to the firm.” Lawrence & Bundy’s business performance goals directly relate to talent management and job satisfaction of its attorneys. As such, it has been able to attract top attorneys from large law firms. Attorney Katherine Kendricks explains why she left an AMLAW 100 firm to join Lawrence & Bundy, “Several years ago, I doubted the practice of law had a place for me. I was concerned that I could not be a successful attorney and a successful mother without flexibility. The flexible work arrangements at Lawrence & Bundy partnered with their commitment to excellent client work allow me to continue progressing in my career without sacrificing time with my family.” Lawrence & Bundy’s guiding principle is to be a destination for top legal talent, enabling it to deliver agile client service by providing differentiated value and a client-centric experience. Winning a Chambers Women in Law Award sets a high precedent and marks an international achievement of excellence in furthering the advancement of women within the legal sphere. The Awards seek to honor these achievements, empower the people behind innovative women’s initiatives, and give greater visibility to gender diversity. Announcement of the winners will take place during a ceremony on June 15, 2017 at The Yale Club in New York City. Comments are closed.
